2025 Tuition Increase Letter (revised)
Dear Parents,
We are writing to inform you about this fall’s upcoming increase in tuition, to help explain why regular tuition increases are necessary, so you can make an informed decision about your childcare options.
Tuition increase
The Board of Directors has approved a 5% tuition increase, effective Sept. 1, 2025. For full-time students, this works out to about $17-18 per week depending on the age of your child, or a little over $70 per month. Even as a 501c3 nonprofit, we typically need to increase tuition by some amount each year to keep up with increased costs, such as teacher salaries (our main expense) and inflation in food, supplies, insurance, and other expenses. Meanwhile, for several years we have actually been operating at below the market rates determined by New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) for centers in our area, and the State has directed us to realign our tuition with market rates. Additionally, as a nonprofit we have to complete a thorough annual financial audit, and every dollar has to be accounted for. For the past few years our auditors spoke to the importance of gradual tuition increases to keep up with the costs of running a small organization with a minimal financial cushion
Quality education and care
You already know that the Buffalo State Child Care Center offers high-quality education and care for your child, but you may not know exactly how excellently it has been rated. We are licensed by NY OCFS, accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and we are joining the QUALITYstarsNY network. Each of these have their own standards for high quality education, child safety, staff education, and fiscal responsibility. The quality of care and instruction your child gets for your dollar is exceptional.
Other benefits of the BSU CCC to keep in mind
- Extended hours (7:30am – 5:30pm) without extra cost for “wraparound care.”
- All food (breakfast, lunch, snacks) included at no additional cost
- “No screens policy” for students and staff that encourages your child to engage their social skills and imagination for the entire day
- Warm relationships with familiar teachers, classmates, and children of other ages
Our Board of Directors is comprised of parents of current and former Childcare Center students, campus faculty and staff, and community members who are dedicated to advancing the Center’s mission to provide quality, affordable childcare for our families. If you are interested in getting involved in fundraising efforts to support our mission, please speak to any Board member!
Warm regards,
Board of Directors Co-Chairs:
Jack Mack Kathy Doody
