Our Play Philosophy

#1 - Play is How Children Learn

At Buffalo State Child Care Center, we believe play is an essential part of childhood and one of the most meaningful ways children learn. Through play, children explore the world around them, test ideas, solve problems, express themselves, build relationships, and develop new skills. Whether they are building with blocks, creating art, engaging in pretend play, exploring outdoors, or simply asking questions, children are learning through every experience. Our teachers create environments that encourage children to be curious, creative, confident, and actively involved in their own learning. Play is not seperate from learning - play is learning. 

#2 - Child-Led, Teacher-Supported Play

Children learn best when they have opportunities to follow their own interests, make choices, and explore at their own pace. Our teachers thoughtfully prepare the environment with materials and experiences that encourage curiosity and discovery. Rather than directing every moment of play, teachers observe, listen, ask questions, introduce new ideas, and provide support when needed. By following each child's interests, teachers can extend learning naturally - turning a simple moment of play into opportunities for problem-solving, communication, creativity, and growth. Child lead the exploration. Teachers help learning grow.
